Early Marriage in Indonesia

Tradition is still somehow one of the most essential in some areas in Indonesia; especially in rural areas or village. A strict tradition is still applicable though it is far from what today people called as modernization. Here in Indonesia, the issue of marriage is still sensitive and has a strict rule and tradition.

Like what happens in my area in East Java, early marriage is still popular. Some happened because of tradition that said that a woman must marry in certain age and some others happened because o self-willingness. However, the bad effect of the first case frequently results in divorce and other family problem in the future.

In Java Tradition that most people are Muslim, obedience toward parents is absolute. The education and tradition somehow force them to obey any decision that has been made by parents. So does in their future life. When parents said they must marry with particular guy, they are supposed to agree; since their parents are believed to know what is best for them.

In fact, the immature readiness o the women in facing the marriage life will result on the unhappy marriage life even conflict that will suffer them in their future life.

However, in some cases, this early marriage can end with a happy marriage life when the couple can win the battle of conflict resulted by the immature age of the woman.

Indonesia: a Great Country with a Great Diversity

There are so many countries in the world that you may remembered. Some are big, others are medium, and another ones are small. Hmm, sounds like I'm talking about shoes. However, if you haven't known about Indonesia, I will tell you something, that I'm sure that this is a big country with a great diversity compared to the other countries in the world.

If you visit or learn about Indonesia, this country has more than 300 tribes in Indonesia. Can you imagine how big it is? Thus, it makes Indonesia has quite complicated and unique social and cultural life. This is what I wanna share with you in this blog.

These last nine months I live in a small village in East Java. Java is one of big islands in Indonesia with the most crowded population. The characteristics and traditions are so different in every place.

In the village where I'm living now, is located in a rural areas. You have to go to the town, which is about 15 minutes long by motorbike. The main job of most people here is farmer. I call this village as Kampung Damai (Peaceful Village) and I find so many stories about the people, nature, and tradition here.

Sometimes I feel so awkward when I heard a question such as "where's Indonesia?" in movies. I think everybody should have known names of countries around the world. Though you shouldn't mention it one by one, at least, you will know that a certain name of country exists.

Well, it's ok. Anyway, this blog is dedicated for those who haven't known where's Indonesia and have no idea about what you can find in this wonderfully colorful country!

Welcome to my blog, welcome to my country, welcome to my Indonesia! :)
